Nebraska had 258 new cases since yesterday and a total of 25,157 cases, and 321 deaths.

The Riverside Aquatic Center was abruptly closed yesterday.  That was after city officials announced a lifeguard who worked at the pool tested positive for COVID-19.

The Sioux City Community Schools will be back in session a few weeks from now, on August 25th.  The big question on a lot of people’s minds in the age of the Coronavirus is will masks be required.  Superintendent Dr. Paul Gausman says today that the district will require all human beings in the schools to have masks on.

I’m not going to say that a mask is required every moment of every day, but they will be expected far more than not.”

Speaking today on the Siouxland Public Media’s The Exchange, Gausman said parents who don’t want their children wearing masks have the option to learn virtually at home.  He says a little more than 20 percent of families have already signed up for that option.

The district’s Return to Learn plan for the school will be finalized on August 10.
