Pollsters behind the Des Moines Register/CNN Iowa poll decided not to release the results of its final highly anticipated survey before the Iowa caucuses. The release of the poll was canceled after former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s campaign raised concerns that his name was not included in at least one phone call.
Polls have shown Buttigieg in a fluid race with Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders.
A three-person panel has set April 14 as the date for a special election to fill the District 2 board supervisor, last held by Jeremy Taylor. Taylor resigned his seat, effective today after his voting registration was canceled over questions about his official address.
Gill said the panel had two options when it came to filling the District 2 vacancies.
They could've appointed someone to fill the seat. That person would also need to be placed on the ballot in the Nov. 2020 election.
Instead, they chose to hold a special election. The winner will remain on the board for the remaining more than two-and-a-half years of Taylor's term.
In order to eligible for the seat, a person must be a resident of Woodbury County and live in District 2.
Political parties will have to hold county conventions to appoint a nominee at least 25 days prior to the April 14 election.
