Brahms' Second Symphony

Brahms wrote his Second Symphony in the seaside town of Portschach, looking out of his quarters, too small for a piano, at the vastness. Reflecting upon that time, he speaks of a happiness that is serene. Yet the work contains darkness as well as lightness. It's a work of honest and accepting understanding. The Philidelphia Orchestra performs under the baton of RiccardoMuti.
