The Woodbury County Republican Party on Saturday morning will hold a special convention to fill out the slate of people running for county office.

The convention participants will nominate a Republican for the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors District 4 position. That session will be held at 10 a.m. on Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City.

District 4 is currently represented by Matthew Ung, but he is not seeking reelection.

Republicans already have a nominee for county board District 2, as incumbent Dan Bittinger is running again.

A special nominating convention is a process used by political parties to place candidates on an election ballot when a vacancy occurs or if a seat lacks representation following a filing period.

Earlier this week,  two Democratic candidates were selected in another special  convention, with Jody House for District 2 and Brittney Wilson for District 4.
