Nebraska Republican Congressman Mike Flood is running for re-election in November, and two Democrats are also running for that Nebraska 1st Congressional District position.
The state’s primary election on May 12 will determine which Democrat will face off in six months with Flood.
The Democrats are Eric Moyer and Chris Backemeyer, both of whom live in Lincoln..
Moyer is a renewable energy businessman. He says people are waking up to the derogatory impact of financial policies pursued by President Trump.
Moyer plans to end “the tariff war” carried out by Trump by amending presidential emergency powers in the National Emergencies Act.
Backemeyer is the leading fundraiser of the two Democrats, according to a Nebraska television news report. He worked as a diplomat in the U.S. State Department for 20 years.
Backemeyer aims to make healthcare more affordable and to more fully support rural communities.
Additionally, Libertarian Party member Nick Sandman is also a candidate, for the 1st Congressional District post. The district includes 12 counties
