Second debate for Republican South Dakota governor candidates is next week

The next debate for South Dakota governor candidates is coming up on Monday, April 13.

Three large news organizations have combined to present the three events for the four Republicans who are moving towards an important primary election on June 2. That comtest will determine the nominee for the November election.

THe Monday debate will be presented by South Dakota Public Broadcasting, with candidates businessman Toby Doeden, state House Speaker Jon Hansen, Congressman Dusty Johnson and Governor Larry Rhoden.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting has produced televised forums since the 1970s.

Cara Hetland, who is director of journalism content for SDPB, said voters need to make informed decisions, and these debates with candidates being questioned is a great way to learn about the candidates.

The first debate was presented on March 31 by KELO-TV.

The third and final South Dakota Republican governor candidate debate comes on April 27, from Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
