With the 2026 primary election roughly two months away in Iowa, candidates are beginning to move more frequently through the state and Siouxland.
A few of the races with three or more candidates from the same party include the Republican contest for Iowa governor and the Democratic contest for the Iowa 4th congressional district.
One of the Republican seeking the governor position is Brad Sherman, who will speak on Monday, April 6, at 6 p.m. at Jim's Burgers, in downtown Sioux City. Others in the field include Congressman Randy Feenstra, Adam Steen, Zach Lahn, and Eddie Andrews.
The sole Democrat seeking the governor seat is Rob Sand.
Three Democrats are pursuing the Iowa 4th District position. Dave Dawson, of Lawton, completed a district-wide tour with 36 town hall events earlier this week.
The other Democrats are Stephanie Steiner of Sutherland, and Ashley WolfTornabane of Storm Lake.
WolfTornabane is also holding a 36-county tour, with her next town hall to be held April 11 in Algona.
Steiner will hold an event concerning clean water quality for Iowa outside the Sioux City Public Museum, at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
Chris McGowan, of Sioux City, is the sole Republican running for the 4th District seat being vacated by Feenstra.
When there are more than one candidate from a political party running for the same position, the June 2 primary will determine which person moves onto the November general election ballot.
