Candidates seeking county office in Iowa had to file nomination papers by Friday, March 20.
In Woodbury County, there will not be a lot of competition on the ballot for the four electoral positions, as a Democrat is running for the county attorney position, but none of the other posts.
Of the five seats on the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, two will be on the November ballot.
There is an interesting wrinkle in Supervisors District 4, as Republican Matthew Ung will leave office at the end of the year. No Republican or Democrat from Woodbury County filed for the seat, so county deputy elections commissioner Steve Hofmeyer said the race could be decided bhy write-ins.
The two parties could also hold special nominating conventions in August to put forth a nominee late in the election timeline.
In Supervisors District 2, Republican Dan Bittinger is running again and he has no opponent.
Republican County Attorney James Loomis is seeking a second term, and his opponent is Ben Mulford, a Democrat.
Republican County Treasurer Tina Bertrand is seeking re-election, and has no opponent.
One week ago, the filing period ended for Iowans seeking statewide, legislative or federal positions.
In the cases where there are multiple Democratic or Republican candidates seeking the same position, the primary election on June 2 will determine the winner to move onto the November ballot.
June 2 is also the primary election date in South Dakota, while the primary for Nebraska contests is on May 12.
