As filing period ends, Nebraska Republican incumbents Ricketts, Pillen face combined 9 opponents

The incumbent governor and U.S. senator in Nebraska each have multiple fellow Republicans hoping to unseat them in the 2026 election.

The filing period for Nebraska candidates ended on March 2, and the list of people who filed necessary nomination papers has been compiled by the secretary of state.

Governor Jim Pillen is opposed by four Republicans – Jacy Todd, Sheila Korth-Focken, Gary Rogge and John Walz – and two Republicans, Larry Martin and Lynne Walz.

Republican U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts has five opponents, with Republicans Todd Knobel, Mac Stevens and Debb Axtell Schultz, and DEmocrats, Cindy Burbank and William Forbes.

In Nebraska’s 1st congressional district, Republican incumbent Mike Flood will take on the winner of two Democrsatic candidates, Eric Moyer and Chris Brackemeyer, and Libertarian Nick Sandman.

Nebraska 3rd District Congresman Adrian Smith as twon opponents, in Republican David Huebner and Democrat Becky Stille.

The primary election to reduce the candidates in each political party to one nomimnee will be held on May 12.
