Strauss's Sinfonia Domestica

After a bit of scoffing for presenting himself as the hero who defeated the philistines in Ein Heldenleben, Strauss took on a decidedly more modest, though arguably more complex, subject for his next grand work, the Sinfonia Domestica. We hear a day in the life of the Strauss household, Mama, Papa, and Bubi. The Minnesota Orchestra performs under the baton of Edo de Waart.

Mark Munger first began listening to public radio as a child in the back of his Mom's VW Vanagon, falling in love with the stories on Morning Edition and Prairie Home Companion and the laughter of Click and Clack on Car Talk. Through KWIT, he was introduced to the great orchestras and jazz artists, the sounds of folk and blues, and the eclectic expressions of humanity.
