The first of four debates by the major party nominees for the Iowa governor race will take place Tuesday evening.
The participants will be Republican Zach Lahn and Democrat Rob Sand in Davenport at 7 p.m.
Sand and Lahn will hold their second debate in Sioux City at KTIV studios on October 14. The final two debates of the Iowa governor race will be in Des Moines on October 21 and in Cedar Rapids on October 27, just ahead of the November 3 election.
The Lahn-Sand race has some prognosticators giving the nod to Sand one month out.
Looking at the South Dakota governor race, one week ago Republican Larry Rhoden and Democrat Dan Ahlers in a debate discussed education, health care, affordability, property taxes, and more.
That is expected to be their second and final debate of this fall.In Nebraska, there are no scheduled debates between incumbent Republican Governor Jim and Democrat Lynne Walz
Pillen continues to outraise Walz.
The latest Federal Election Commission campaign filings shows Pillen has raised about $12.7 million for this election cycle, with Democrat Lynne Walz at $3.8 million.
Pillen narrowly outraised Walz in the latest reporting period. When it comes to campaign cash on hand for the election, Pillen has $7.5 million, while Walz sits at $860,000.
Of the 50 states, 26 of the governorships are held by Republicans and 24 by Democrats. Governor contests are being held in November in 36 states.
