The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Tuesday that parts of Northwest Iowa will receive more than $27 million in disaster recovery funds.

There are four recipients in the Siouxland area, including the cities of Rock Valley, Sioux Rapids and Hawarden, and also Palo Alto County.

Rock Valley is expected to receive two separate amounts, about $22 million for the purchase of 104 properties and to support the city. The second amount of $3.5 million for debris removal and repair.

Palo Alto County is expected to receive $208,000 for repairs and replacements to its drainage district.

Other recipients include Sioux Rapids at $149,000 and Hawarden at $360,000 to support the cities.

Some of the areas are still recovering from the June 2024 flooding event.
