Several people looked at recaps of Woodbury County government budget statistics, but none spoke during a planned Tuesday hearing to gauge public input on the proposed county property tax levy for fiscal year 2026-2027.
That hearing lasted 15 minutes, where Woodbury County Board of Supervisors Chairman Mark Nelson described recent moves so that the propped county levy will be the same as the current year.
The Woodbury County property tax levy for people living in towns is currently $7.11 per $1,000 of taxable property valuation. A few weeks ago, it was thought that county property tax levy could rise to $7.30, but recent changes will prevent that.
County Supervisor Matthew Ung praised that the county leaders had set a property tax levy that has not increased for 12 straight years.
For a third year, Iowa county boards of supervisors, city councils and public school boards have mailed letters telling people how to attend public hearings concerning proposed property tax levies.
The levy and entire county budget for the 2027 fiscal year will be officially passed by April.
