The Iowa Farm Bureau announced Monday farmers can begin enrolling in the Farmer Bridge Assistance program.
According to the USDA website, the program provides $11 billion in one-time payments to row crop farmers, such as corn, soybeans, or cotton, to assist farmers in offsetting agricultural losses. An additional $1 billion will be used to assist farmers with specialty crops such as almonds, garlic, and plums.
To receive financial assistance, farmers must be actively farming, own at-risk crops, and have an average adjusted income below $900,000.
Payments will be calculated on 2025 reported acres, cost of production, and the world supply and demand estimate report.
The maximum payment amount that farmers or a company can receive is $155,000.
Payments will be issued as applications are approved; the end date for applications is April 17th, 2026.
