The Sioux City Council will discuss approving a grant application to the US Department of Transportation's Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development Grant Program in its meeting Monday.

According to a memo, the grant application is for the Hamilton Boulevard and Tri-View Avenue improvement project.

The memo says the project will replace a portion of Tri-View Avenue, reconstruct Hamilton Boulevard, add a sidewalk/trail to connect two streets, and replace water, sanitary, and storm utilities.

The BUILD grant is awarded for projects that will improve safety, environmental sustainability, quality of life, mobility, and community connectivity.

Final design for the project is expected to be completed for the bidding process in late summer 2026.

According to the memo, the total cost for the project is approximately $4.5 million, with $3.6 million being requested from the grant. City TIF and GO bonds will fund the remaining amount of the project.

Construction of the project is expected to begin in the fall of 2026.
