The Western Iowa Tech Community College Board of Directors have begun the search to select the next president of the college.
The process was laid out in an email to WITCC employees on Tuesday, as college officials seek to find the successor for President Terry Murrell, who is retiring later this school year.
The WITCC Board is targeting “an equitable, inclusive, and transparent national search that will attract a strong and diverse pool of candidates from throughout Iowa, the region, and the nation.”
The Association of Community College Trustees firm will assist with the Presidential search process.
Three public forums for college employees and others will be held on January 27, 2026, to discuss the key attributes and qualifications the next president should have. The board’s search committee is comprised of 10 members.
Back in August, Murrell announced his retirement, after the college board of directors approved an early retirement package.
Murrell has been president for 14 years and has worked at the college in Sioux City for nearly two decades.
