Woodbury County Board of Supervisors Mark Nelson and Dan Bittinger will go to mediation next week for the Law Enforcement Center.

In their meeting Tuesday, Supervisor Mark Nelson said he and other county officials will be in Des Moines for hopefully two days for mediation.

Nelson said that the county and the LEC authority are clearly communicating their demands and damages to the parties responsible.

"We hope that we can come home and represent the county in the best way possible and hopefully start to close on what has been a relatively ugly chapter in regard to our treatment on this facility,” said Nelson.

Nelson stated any offer made at mediation would have to be approved in a public meeting.

The original estimated cost of the building was $54 million, and it ended up costing $69 million.
