Sioux City residents are voting Tuesday in a primary electiion to narrow the field of city council candidates from nine to six, who will be on the November 4 ballot.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. at 16 locations in Sioux City, and people can vote in person through 8 p.m., at which point ballots will be tabulated, including those cast in early voting over the last three weeks.
As of 9:30 a.m, eight people had voted at the Spalding Park Elementary School polling place. Voting in such primary elections is often light.

The Sioux City Council candidates are Nick Davison, Brett Watchorn, Craig Berenstein, John Den Beste, Rick Bertrand, Marty Pottebaum, Ike Rayford, Jessica Lopez-Walker, and Paul Koskovich.
