The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved funding to Copperstone Development from the county’s opioid settlement funds in their meeting Tuesday.

The board approved $176,000 in funding for Copperstone Development over the next two years. Funds will be used for opioid treatment, staffing, and housing.

The county currently has approximately $944,000 available in the opioid settlement funds.

Copperstone Development is a nonprofit organization that provides services such as mental health therapy, recovery coaching, and sober living. The organization primarily serves unhoused individuals, including those transitioning from prison and treatment.

In the meeting, Dr. Pamela Ingram, Chief Executive Officer of Copperstone Development, said they aim to provide a clean environment where individuals can learn life skills and reintegrate into society.

The board also approved the county’s participation form for the national opioid settlement against Purdue Pharma.
