The Sioux City Council is expected to approve a predesign agreement of the viaduct reconstruction on Gordon Drive in their meeting Monday.
The Iowa Department of Transportation has hired the engineering firm HDR to complete the initial services and reconstruction design of the Gordon Drive Viaduct, including the Bacon Creek Conduit.
Businesses impacted by the project include Bacon Creek Country Store and Tastee’s In and Out.
The viaduct project will cost more than $150 million, and the estimated to start July 2027. The current viaduct is almost 90 years old, and it spans decades-old railways beneath.
