The Sioux City Council voted Monday to approve a resolution on a plan to build a splash pad at Heddington Park. In August, the council rejected the lone bid for the project from a Pender, Nebraska, construction company. It was much higher than the city engineer’s estimate.

No bids were received when the project was originally bid on April 18. Since then, city staff has worked with JEO Consulting Group, Inc. to modify the scope of the project. They extended the completion date and removed some specifications for the splash pad.

And the council last night deferred a resolution to a adopt a downtown infrastructure reconstruction master plan. The resolution was deferred until January 8th so the city can look into the effects of the plan.

The master plan includes an overall evaluation of the entire downtown district infrastructure including streets, signals, utilities including water, sewer, and storm water infrastructure improvements, as well as impacts to economic and community development.

The council last night also approved the purchase of a 2024 Kia K5 GT Sedan from Billion Kia of Sioux City to replace one of its Drug Task Force vehicles. The cost is around 32-thousand dollars.
