Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said recent reports of respiratory illnesses caused by e-cigarettes are alarming, and she said the state is looking at what it can do in response.
Taking questions from reporters at a news conference on Wednesday, Reynolds said she's working with the Iowa Department of Public Health to continue collecting data on the illnesses.
Twenty-three cases (and no deaths) of respiratory illness linked to vaping have been reported in Iowa.
Eighteen of Iowa's reported cases involved THC, a chemical in marijuana, according to data from the Department of Public Health.
Republican US Senator Joni Ernst was talking with high school students about leadership today at Briar Cliff University. But reporters asked about the possible impeachment of President Donald Trump. When asked about Trump’s situation, Ernst said the Senate Intelligence Committee will take the process seriously because all forms of corruption need to be exposed.

Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for impeachment proceedings to investigate the circumstances surrounding President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine’s president. A whistleblower exposed a July phone call where Trump allegedly pressed the Ukrainian president to investigate Democratic political rival Joe Biden and his family. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.
And, Sioux City native Shelby Houlihan made it through the semi-finals today at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Houlihan took second in her heat in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:14.
