Lunar New Year 2026

Lunar New Year 2026

Join us at 1:00 p.m. on February 7 as we ring in the Lunar New Year with a celebration of culture, tradition, and community.

This event will feature traditional lion dance performed by Pho Mon Lion Dance, Youth Group from Pho Mon Temple of Sioux City, led by Peggy La. Attendees will also enjoy engaging, child-friendly stories read by Nancy Li, and create festive crafts. This event is free to attend!

Lunar New Year is celebrated across China, South Korea, Vietnam, and communities around the world with significant Chinese populations. This 15-day festival, commonly known as the Spring Festival, marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year. The official dates for Lunar New Year vary by culture, but those who celebrate see this as the time of year to reunite with immediate and extended family.

In the Chinese zodiac, 2026 is the year of the horse, symbolizing action, independence, and perseverance.
