On “The Exchange” this week, Siouxland Public Media talks to two Democratic presidential candidates who recently visited Siouxland.  Hear from Sioux City native Chris Godfrey who was recently involved a discrimination lawsuit against former Gov. Terry Branstad.  We also commemorate Veterans Day at with a special ceremony at Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Plus, the latest on agricultural concerns for producers in northwest Iowa with an expert from ISU Extension and Outreach.

A special convocation at Western Iowa Tech Community college on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 united students, staff and members of the community.  The event hosted by the international honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, focused on global issues concerning agriculture. 

Siouxland Public Media’s Sheila Brummer served as emcee for the event and brings us the sounds and messages from experts and entertainers.

Katelyn Brinkerhoff, from ISU Extension & Outreach (and super interns, Claire Growth and Gustavo Flores) sit down with guest host, Steve Smith to talk about a Bike and Bite event, Saturday, setting off from the Sioux City Farmers Market and touring the city in search of food, coffee and other fun things.

Sioux City Community Theatre goes Into the Woods, whilst Okoboji Summer theater prefers a Hot Tin Roof for its venue. The Iguanas play Downtown Live, there's a great big car show and the Museum takes a look back at Flight 232, 30 years on.

Dismal weather conditions with heavy rain and cooler days prevented many Siouxland farmers from finishing their planting this season. 

Siouxland Public Media reports it’s a critical time for producers to get into the fields.

“It’s 22.5 acres and about 5 areas under water.”

Mark Held stands by his farmland two miles south of Hinton, along Highway 75 in Plymouth County, Iowa.

You can’t miss it.  Instead of dry land it looks like water-front property. 

“We have one field south of Hinton here.  We call it the pond.”

BBComingup next on The Exchange, we hear from the candidates for the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors and two of the candidates for the County treasures office.

The main issue on the supervisor's race is still the switch from Sioux Rivers Mental Health and Disabilities Service Region to Rolling Hills.  Flora spoke out against the move.
