Music, Life, and Politics: Catelin Drey

Portrait of Catelin Drey
Catelin Drey
Catelin Drey is the Democratic candidate for the Iowa Senate Seat District 1 special election.

A special election is underway for Iowa Senate District 1, with early voting ongoing through August 25 and Election Day set for August 26. In this edition of Manager’s Special, host Mark Munger invites the candidates to share more than just policy positions: He asks for three of their favorite songs, hoping the music reveals the people behind the politics.

Republican candidate Christopher Prosch has not yet responded to the invitation, which remains open. Democratic candidate Catelin Drey joined Mark in Studio B to talk about the mood on the ground during her campaign and what she’s hearing from voters.

Voting details and registration information are available at Woodbury County's website.

Mark Munger first began listening to public radio as a child in the back of his Mom's VW Vanagon, falling in love with the stories on Morning Edition and Prairie Home Companion and the laughter of Click and Clack on Car Talk. Through KWIT, he was introduced to the great orchestras and jazz artists, the sounds of folk and blues, and the eclectic expressions of humanity. This American Life and Radiolab arrived in his formative college years and made him want nothing more than to be a part of the public radio world.
