Fatiya has pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education and has recently found a passion for immigration and refugee services. Fatiya has many hats at Mary J. Treglia Community House, and she speaks 4 different languages! Immigrating as a refugee from Ethiopia herself, she knows the struggle that people face when entering a new country.
  • Gigo has worked for Mary Treglia for several years in our Family Services Department helping our clients connect to many different services in our community. He feels his role at MJTCH can be described as more of a calling than just a career because of his ability to help make life better for those he helps. Gigo was born and raised in Siouxland and has a true passion for helping our immigrant community. He also loves to read and travel all over the world.
  • Halima joined MJTCH this year as a Service Coordinator. Working specifically with the English Language Learner program, Halima assists teachers in the placement of students based on testing scores, tutors pre-literacy students, maintains student records, and updates the attendance data. Halima is bilingual with Somali as her first language.
  • Alana Wise joined WAMU in September 2018 as the 2018-2020 Audion Reporting Fellow for Guns & America. Selected as one of 10 recipients nationwide of the Audion Reporting Fellowship, Alana works in the WAMU newsroom as part of a national reporting project and is spending two years focusing on the impact of guns in the Washington region.
  • Kate joined KUER from Austin, Texas, where she attended the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody School of Journalism. She has been an intern, fellow and reporter at Texas Monthly, the Texas Observer, Quartz, the Texas Standard and Voces, an oral history project. Kate began her public radio career at Austin’s NPR station, KUT, as a part-time reporter. Now, she is a corps member of Report For America, a public service program that partners with local newsrooms to bring reporters to undercovered areas across the country. She’s excited to be living in and reporting on San Juan County, one of the most beautiful — and interesting — parts of the United States.
