Iowa’s junior Senator is applauding the airstrike on Iran that killed its top general.

Iran has vowed, “harsh retaliation” for the attack.

But Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, a retired member of the Iowa National Guard, spoke out on Twitter about the situation.  She said, “America and our world is safer (because of Soleimani’s death).”

She added, “Soleimani orchestrated heinous and reckless actions, including the slaughter of Americans, for far too long. Now, at the direction of President Trump, he has been brought to justice before he could kill even more Americans.”

Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse who has been critical of President Trump in the past said on Twitter has defended the action.

Former Maryland Congressman John Delaney will be campaigning in Siouxland this weekend.

On Sunday, the Democratic Presidential candidate is planning on having lunch with supporters at Horizon Family Restaurant at 11 a.m.  Tomorrow, he plans on knocking on doors in Bronson.

Snow is moving across the state today.  Depending upon where you are, you could see a half-inch to three inches of snow. National Weather Service Meteorologist Alan Curtis says the heaviest snowfall will be in a line from Estherville, in north-central Iowa to the southeast through Webster City and Marshalltown.  He says travel could be even more difficult after the evening commute.

"The sun goes down and we cool things off, anyone out and about may encounter some slick and icy and snow-covered roadways.  We do expect winds to pick up so if there is any snow still falling, visibility will be made difficult as well.”

Curtis says the system should move out by tomorrow morning.
