In addition to the 60 films and workshops of the 21st annual SiouxCity International Film Festival over four days through October 4, there was a special event on the first evening at the downton Orpheum Theatre
That was the premiere of the full length documentary on noted Sioux City photographer and filmmaker George Lindblade, titled "Lindblade: Cutting Edge."
That film was directed by Jim Kiertzner and produced by Marty Iker, who worked with Lindblade in the 1970's at KCAU-TV in Sioux City.
On the heels of that event, Lindblade spoke about how he felt about the documentary and the big crowd of roughly 1,000 people.
He also discussed being a mentor to such local people as Ron Clemons, who went on to direct several Disney animated films such as "Aladdin," and Ray Cole, who held many leadership positions in the television world.
Lindblade discussed why photography has been such a fulfilling carer, the lure of visual arts, and how to excel in the craft of photography.
Kiertzner, Iker and Sioux City International Film Festival official Greg Giles also joined Lindblade for that chat.
