Sioux City School Board candidates in forum discuss issues the school district faces

On November 4th voters will select people to serve as mayors, for city councils, and on public school boards.

Siouxland Public Media continues to provide lots of information on numerous candidates, actually 14 of them, who are running for positions on the Sioux City Council and Sioux City School Board.

There are three school board spots open; in the second part you will hear from seven school board candidates. The seven candidates are AJ Cecil Starlin, Jan George, Dan Greenwell, Cyndi Hanson, Jebadiah Hibbs, Bob Michaelson, and Christian Supiot-Perez.

Jan George, Dan Greenwell, and Bob Michaelson are currently on the school board and seeking reelection.

In this segment candidates discuss issues the school board faces, including student lunch debt, mental health, and state funding. The forum was hosted by the Sioux City League of Women Voters and held at Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Multiple candidates frequently cited the need for greater board transparency.
