The November 4 election will see voters picking people to serve as mayors, for city councils and public school boards.
Siouxland Public Media continues to provide lots of information on numerous candidates, actually 14 of them, who are running for positions on the Sioux City Council and Sioux City School Board.
Three Sioux City School Council members will be selected, and in this What’s The Frequency show, you will hear from the six council candidates. Those six people are Craig Berenstein, Rick Bertrand, Ike Rayford, Marty Pottebaum, John Den Beste, and Paul Koskovich.
Pottebaum and Berenstein are former council members who are seeking a return to public service.
This show contains some of the notable things the candidates said concerning issues and the reasons they believe they should join the council, from a candidate forum by the Sioux City League of Women Voters, held at Western Iowa Tech Community College.
Questions were posed on homelessness in Sioux City, the Human Rights Commission, diversity hiring, public transportation and more.
Several candidates say they want to promote a better environment for businesses, reduce taxation and steer the city in a more positive direction.
Koskovich said, "This city is in a bad, bad spot."
