What's The Frequency: Candidates for three Northwest Iowa legislative positions debate issues of school vouchers, renewable energy pipeline, abortion and more

Ways To Subscribe

Early voting is now underway in Iowa, and many candidates are seeking seats in the Iowa Legislature.

There are several Iowa House races where there is only one nominee on the ballot. But there are also many contested races in Northwest Iowa where there are Democrats and Republicans running, plus one in House District 13 with three on the ballot.

That race includes Independent Parker Hansen, of Correctionville, who described himself as a conservative who will support the values and concerns of people in District 13, without the constraints of party affiliation. The other two on the ballot are Democratic Party nominee Rosanne Plante, of Hinton, and Republican Travis Sitzmann, of Le Mars.

In House District 1, which covers parts of Sioux City, Republican Josh Steinhoff is looking to unseat incumbent Democrat J.D. Scholten.

In Iowa House District 2 in Sioux City, Republican incumbent Bob Henderson is opposed by Democrat Jess Lopez-Walker.

All three races are given an airing on this What's The Frequency episode, with the content coming from candidates who participated in the October 8 forum held by the Sioux City League of Women Voters and Siouxland GO.
