What's The Frequency: Four Woodbury County contests before voters could result in big turnover in officeholders

Ways To Subscribe

The November election has a lot of notable contests.

In Woodbury County, voters will see four contests for elective office with two candidate options, while Sheriff Chad Sheehan is running unopposed for a second term.

For the county auditor position, incumbent Democrat Pat Gill is opposed by one of his deputies in the office, Republican Michelle Skaff.

Additionally, of the five positions of the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, three of those are before voters, and this episode will involve hearing from the county auditor and supervisor office seekers.

Two current county supervisors will leave office at the end of the year, with those exiting being Keith Radig and Jeremy Tayor. Therefore, at least two first-time candidates will win four-year terms.

In the Woodbury County Board of Supervisor races, for the District 1 spot, Republican Kent Carper is vying with Democrat John Herrig.

The Woodbury County Supervisor District 3 race is the only supervisors contest with an incumbent, with that being Republican Mark Nelson, who is competing with Democrat Brian McNaughton.

There is an interesting wrinkle in this race, as Nelson already defeated McNaughton once, back in June in a Republican primary election. But a few weeks later, McNaughton switched to the Democratic Party, so they are involved in a rematch.

In the Woodbury County Supervisor District 5 race, Republican David Dietrich is competing with Democrat Lincoln Ryan.
