This Frequency episode is devoted to the important 2024 general election that now lies two months off.
A long standing saying is that people only truly dial into an election after Labor Day, and since we are now just past that holiday, it seems like a good time to assemble some well-versed political scientists to dig into some topics with the 2024 election.
There are a lot of key issues that will motivate people to vote in the general election on November 5, and of course candidates are usually weighing in on such things as the economy and inflation, abortion rights, international conflicts, and education.
A lot of attention is on the presidential race that features Republican former president Donald Trump and Democratic vice president Kamala Harris.
Depending upon the state, there will be not only federal contests such as the presidency and congressional posts to settle, but also some state legislative races and even some ballot measures, as is the case in Nebraska and South Dakota.
Early voting starts in the three Siouxland states starts ahead of this, with that being September 20 in South Dakota, October 7 in Nebraska, and October 16 in Iowa.
The guests here to discuss a host of facets of the approaching election include three political science professors from Siouxland colleges, with Julia Hellwege of the University of South Dakota, Bradley Best of Buena Vista University, and Patrick McKinlay of Morningside University.
