Sioux City School District officials are underway with discussions on buying land that is near West Middle School.

In their Monday meeting, the Sioux City School Board members debated buying the property at 1727 Casselman Street, which is a former Casey’s convenience store.

The proposal would have the property of one-acre in size selling for $138,300, towards the goal of facilities planning.

The board members did not approve the sale, as school district attorney Dan Moore said a slower approach was warranted.

They said one detail to address was trying to get the period to inspect the property to be longer than 21 days.
