The Sioux City School Board members on Monday plan to take action on setting the course for some larger overarching actions.
The board members will consider approving board priorities for the 2026-27 year, as well as legislative priorities for the year ahead.
A memo concerning the legislative priorities cites school funding for operations in the regular budget and also for school facilities.
The school board appears likely to request 5 percent growth in supplemental state aid during the 2027 Iowa Legislature session. The memo says the SSA needs to be above the rate of inflation, which has not been happening in recent years
The board will consider also setting a priority to give more transparency in the operation of a recent state law in which the state gives more than $8,100 to families having children who attend private schools. Public schools have pushed back on those Educational Savings Accounts.
The Sioux City School Board meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the downtown district headquarters.
