The Wayne State College Foundation announced on Monday it has received more than $13 million in private donations for its Brandenburg Student Success Center renovation project.
Don and Diane Soukup, who are alumni of Wayne State College, donated about $5 million for the project leading to others contributing donations. Together the Sherwood Foundation, the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation, and the Soukups donated over $13 million to the student success center.
The facility will serve as a hub for student support programs, including disability services and financial aid. The support programs ensure students thrive academically, personally, and professionally.
Dr. Marysz Rames, president of Wayne State College, said the Soukups’ donation reflects their love for the college and their belief that higher education changes lives.
In addition to the donations, the renovation project will be funded through Nebraska’s capital construction fund and Wayne State College.
A groundbreaking ceremony and celebration for the project will be held on October 2, 2026.
