Two Republican candidates are running for South Dakota’s congressional seat, and the primary election on June 2 will determine who advances to the November ballot.

The two Republicans running for Congress include the state’s current Attorney General, Marty Jackley, and U.S. Air Force veteran James Bialota Jr.

Jackley’s priorities include protecting the border, reducing taxes, and rebuilding the country's national defense. Jackley has been serving as South Dakota’s attorney general for 13 years.

During his time as attorney general, he has served as chairman of the National Association of Attorney Generals and won a legal battle against Mayday Health.

Additionally, Bialota’s priorities include restructuring agriculture, reducing the national debt, and standing against abortion.

He is currently a businessman and air force veteran who served in Iraq.

Whoever advances to the November ballot will run against Democrat Nicole Gronli.
