Two Democrats are running to become the party nominee in Iowa House District 12.

Among the many Iowa primary election contests that will be decided with the conclusion of June 2 balloting, voters will pick between Brady Meyer, of Holstein, and Dustin Durbin, of Dow City.

Meyer is a Ridge View High School coach and manages the State Theatre in Holstein. He aims to improve transparency in state government and to address affordability issues.

Durbin is an official with the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denson. He has described a strong need to help Iowans to improve rural health care, to support public schools and to not let eminent domain powers be used by corporations to diminish property rights.

Iowa House District 12 covers Ida and Crawford counties, and the term length is two years.

Longtime Republican officeholder Steven Holt, of Denison, is running again.
