After several weeks of rising gas prices, the price of gas dropped this week in Iowa.

Gas prices hit $3 per gallon mark in Iowa the first week in March, and have trended upwards in fast fashion in the weeks since. The drop this week is only the second weekly drop in the last eight weeks

According to the weekly report by the Iowa Department of Agriculture from AAA recaps, the price for self-service unleaded dropped 15 cents, to sit at $3.51. That price is 55 cents more than one year ago, and the national unleaded price is $5.49 per gallon.

The highest price amid this trend came one week ago on April 15, with $3.65

The prices spiked as the Strait of Hormuz is being greatly blocked from shipping oil from Mideast nations.
