Three Sioux City residents have applied for the open seat for the Sioux City School Board.
People who applied for the position include Christian Supiot-Perez, Ryan Dumkrieger, and Jebidiah Hibbs.
Supiot works in higher education in Sioux City at Western Iowa Tech Community College.
Dumkrieger has many years in education and was previously the principal of North High for 10 years.
Hibbs is a Navy veteran whose wife teaches in the school district.
In November both Supiot-Perez and Hibbs unsuccessfully ran for the school board.
If someone in the school district would like a special election to take place instead of a person being appointed, they must hand in a petition that contains more than 2,000 signatures by March 31st.
The school board vacancy was created by the resignation of member Jan George in mid-March.
During a board meeting last week Treyla Lee was selected as board president to fill the role that George has held; the board needs one more member to work at full capacity.
