South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden signed a bill on Tuesday improving regulations on data centers into law.

The bill offers protection to residents from increased utility costs resulting from data centers.

It requires data centers to pay for the increased rates for electricity and adds water usage regulations.

Furthermore the bill prevents the state from blocking county or city data policies.
