A Democrat has announced his bid to run for the Woodbury County Attorney position on the November ballot.
Ben Mulford, who lives in Sioux City and works in the Iowa Public Defenders Office, on Tuesday said he has acquired the professional skills to lead the county attorney office. He said the county office should focus on the roots of problems.
Mulford formerly served in the Marines, has a law degree from the University of South Dakota, and has worked for the Iowa Department on Aging and the Internal Revenue Service.
The incumbent Republican running for the Woodbury county Attorney post is James Loomis, who later Tuesday will speak at a meeting of the Northwest Iowa Republican Women in Sergeant Bluff.
The filing period for people running for county office in Iowa runs from March 2 to 20.
