The price of gas in Iowa has bounced up and down over the last two months, and sits essentially where it was in mid-December.

The latest weekly summary showed the average price for self-service unleaded was $2.54 per gallon this week, compared to the amount of $2.53 on December 11.

Over those nine weeks, the weekly average price dropped five times and rose four times. The largest increase over those nine weeks was 14 cents on January 14, and the biggest weekly price drop was 6 cents, back in late December.

This week, the Iowa unleaded price rose 4 cents to $2.54, according to the weekly summary by the American Automobile Association shared by the Iowa Department of Agriculture.

That Iowa average price is substantially lower than the current national average price of $2.94, and it is 42 cents below the Iowa price from one year ago.

Many Siouxland stations are currently selling unleaded in the range from $2.29 to $2.59.
