With Smith announcing re-election bid, field for Nebraska congressional contests keeps expanding

Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith has announced he is seeking re-election to Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District, which he has represented since 2006.

Smith, a Republican, in a release cited the need to work on tax relief, agriculture, trade and border security.

Other candidates for Nebraska’s 3rd congressional are Republican David Huebner and Democrat Becky Still.

There is another congressional district with Northeast Nebraska territory, in the 1st District.

Republican Congressman Mike Flood has previously announced he is seeking re-election in the November 2026 contest. Other Nebraska 1st Congressional District candidates are two Democrats, Eric Moyer and Christopher Backemeyer.

A primary election on May 12 will determine those from parties to advance to the November ballot.
