Nebraska DHHS to release $3M for Domestic Violence Services

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced Friday that it would release $3 million in previously appropriated funds for domestic violence services.

The funds were allocated in the 2025 legislative session and were delayed in reaching grantee organizations.

In a press release, DHHS said recent communications with Managed Care Organizations suggested some funding will become available in the Medicaid Managed Care Excess Profit Fund, which would allow the state to provide funding for domestic violence services.

The $3 million will be given to providers in Nebraska who are helping survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Steve Corse, CEO of DHHS, and Drew Gonshorowski, director of Nebraska’s Medicaid and Long-Term Care Division, are encouraging legislators to consider a more secure source of funding for domestic violence services due to the fluctuation of the excess profit fund.
