Seven weeks after an abrupt halt in showing movies, ACX Promenade Cinema in downtown Sioux City remains closed.
At the beginning of October, the Promenade doors were locked and a notice was taped at the entrance saying the landlord took possession of the building because the tenant didn’t pay rent.
Now, in late November, the two sides are embroiled in lawsuits, with both an initial suit and a countersuit..
The Promenade Cinema website is still operational, but the portion that lists showtimes and upcoming films is blank.
YAM 4th Street Promenade in a legal proceeding said Main Street Theatres owes rent of more than $65,000, according to the Sioux City Journal.
The other theater chain in Sioux City is AMC at the Southern Hills Mall.
