The Sioux City Council discussed the flowers spray-painted in Morningside in its meeting Monday.
Nick Hogan, a Sioux City resident, brought the issue up, asking the city council what they were planning to do to remove the flowers from the streets.
Mayor Bob Scott responded, saying the city was not going to remove them and that the snowplows will take care of them.
Council member Julie Schoenherr also responded, saying that they had already put a stop to the problem.
Scott mentioned the city had received many complaints regarding the flowers, including a complaint from the news media.
“It all generated because someone in the news media filed a complaint,” said Scott.
The police didn’t get involved until the complaints were filed.
