No school will be held for at least three days at the Kingsley-Pierson School District in Northwest Iowa, after a severe internal flooding event heavily damaged the school in Kingsley.

The water event began early Monday morning, and classes are called off at least through Wednesday, as officials aim to understand the full extent of damages.

Many Kingsley area residents and alumni on social media have been sharing expressions of concern and support about the devastating damage. Photos of damage to classrooms, hallways, the commons area and music room showed substantial water collection.

A school employee on Tuesday said there was no information on the school website about the incident. That likely will be shared as more information is gathered on costs and more.
