The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska has announced plans to hold its first Cannabis Commission meeting to swear in members and review regulations.
In the meeting, the tribal council will swear in a five-member board, appoint officers, and review regulations for the sale of recreational and medical marijuana.
In a statement, John Cartier, attorney general of the Omaha Tribe, said, “While Nebraska’s process lurches from delay to debate, we’re doing the one thing patients and businesses need, governing”.
Cartier was referring to the ongoing inaction or roadblocks that have kept Nebraska’s voter-approved medical marijuana from becoming a reality.
In July, the Omaha Tribe legalized recreational and medical marijuana and hopes to open its first dispensary early next year.
