In a rematch of the 2022 Iowa 4th congressional district race, incumbent Republican Randy Feenstra has again defeated Democrat Ryan Melton.
Feenstra had 71 percent of the vote as of 10:20 p.m, with 27 of the 36 counties having fully reported results.
Feenstra posted his response to his win on X/Twitter late Tuesday evening, saying, "I’m humbled by the strong support of Iowans in all 36 counties in #IA04 who re-elected me to be their voice in Congress. Like I pledged during my first campaign, I will always work to deliver real results for our families, farmers, businesses, and rural communities."
The 4th District covers more than 30 counties in Northwest and North Central Iowa, and has many more registered Republicans than Democrats.
Feenstra is a former state senator from Hull, who won his first term in 2020 in the district that had been held for 18 years by conservative firebrand Steve King.
Melton lives in Webster City, and lost to Feenstra two years ago, 67 percent to 30 percent.
Speaking in the runup to the election, Feenstra said he is “a true fiscal conservative,” who wants more tax cuts and also tight border enforcement.
“I stand with (Donald) Trump, and the policies that follow Trump,” Feenstra added.
Melton said he hews to the progressive playbook towards the goal of aiding working families.
